Whitening
Thanks to the development of gentle peroxides for dental bleaching, your teeth can now
be brightened, giving you a dazzling smile. Tooth whiteners once were based
on acids that caused sensitive gums and destroyed enamel, but today's bleaching
agents are far more benign and are highly effective at improving the look
of teeth that are discolored by age, smoking and diet. Whitening is pretty simple.
Customized trays are made to snugly fit your teeth which are then filled with a concentration of hydrogen
peroxide mix. Worn at night, the appliance helps produce whitening usually
within two weeks. Some patients may experience slight increased sensitivity in
their teeth when using the whitening materials. Periodic touch up applications are
usually required to maintain the whitening effect but the result is dazzling

Who Should Consider
Whitening?
Whitening is ideal for well shaped, healthy teeth that have darkened gradually over time as the
result of external staining. The process is most effective on teeth with brown or yellow colored stains.
Although all teeth can be whitened, gray teeth are more difficult and will demand a longer treatment time,
though even gray teeth can be whitened almost perfectly.
